tryme Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Hi guys (and girls),Just wondering if any of you guys have attempted to tint your visors yourself?I've got some of that visor tint film stuff and just want to know how easy its going to be to apply and if it looks good.I don't want to completely balls up my lid. I've got a caberg v2 407. It already has the slide down double visor machanism but its not a full face thing. Which is kind of what im looking for.Any ideas? Thanks Quote
Ali in Austria Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 In a nutshell, Don't.You'll end up obscuring your vision and die. Quote
Fast Eddie Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 What Ali said. Do you not find the slide down visor perfectly adequate? Unless you're planning on carrying a spare clear visor you also end up being screwed if you end up out at night, and, tint depending, falling foul of the law. I have a tinted visor on my new helmet (road legal tint), and while i've not found it too dark yet I certainly wouldn't want to be using it at night. Quote
Stu Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I have a dark tint visor on my lid have always had one and always will until they stop making them never had a problem with the police as a lot of them see it as safety although if I know I'm going to be out late then I take the clear one with me too Quote
Stu Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 without a doubt its better then wearing shades cant say about drop down visors though never used one of those Quote
Fast Eddie Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 They're good but I don't miss it overly. in fact id say the caberg one is too dark when you go through shade. My tinted visor is dark/light enough to use most of the time but I'm glad I have the clear one too. Quote
tryme Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 Lol so is it a yes or No and if yes what's the best technique Quote
davefly76 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 It's a no! Just buy yourself a tinted visor and do what Stu does, take the clear one with you if you'll be out when it gets dark. Quote
Fast Eddie Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 No, you've already got a built in sunvisor. Or just splash some cash and get a separate tinted one so you have one for night time too. Quote
Tankbag Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Tryme, I have put a strip of black electrical tape on the very top edge on a couple of my lids to help with a low sun it acts a bit like a sun visor in a car, If that is useful to you. I've never tried to 'home' tint & have a clear & bought tinted visor as the other posters have said above. Quote
tryme Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 I can't seem to find a tinted visor that's the problem. Quote
