eastanglianbiker Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 ah right ok.......thought i could see a difference dont forget with the new rings that the piston is pegged in the ring grooves so line the ends of the rings up to close around the pin as its goes into the bore Quote
murp24 Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 She LIVES! Spent a few hours in the garage this morning when my parts came and fitted the new piston rings, new NGK spark plug cap and new cone air filter and she fired! Finaly! Just need to sort out the clutch and my sticking front break lever and the restoration complete. Would be nice to get some side panels but seem to be pretty rare. Quote
Tango Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Nice one mate....... You could try putting the bike into gear (without the engine running) and rock it back & forwards with the clutch lever in. But if the plates are really stuck you'll most likely have to strip and separate the plates.... Quote

Weebl Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 A slightly more violent way to get them separated if they get stuck for a longer period and rocking won't work is to put the bike on the centre stand, rev it and put it in gear, the rear wheel will spin, change up into second, give it a few revs to get plenty of momentum in the rear wheel, then clutch in and dab the rear brake. That will pretty much work all the time unless the clutch is knackered.Obviously take care as the rear wheel is chuntering round and if it touches down the bike will hare off on it's own Quote
Tango Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Cool.......I was working on the assumption that this is a 50cc....so the clutch ain't gonna be huge, so the gentle approach would most likely work......bigger bike=bigger clutch...so the more extreme clutch release procedure would probably need to be used...... Ye only a 50, was hoping to get a h100 engine in it but they dont come cheap so that not going to happen. Good little bike to build, all straight forward when you know what your doing. You can also use parts from a number of bikes such as the MB50, H100, MTX50 and CR80. The MBs and MTs including the MTXx are basicly the same bikes, same frame, and the MB is just the more road going version of the MT. With the CR80 you can use the swing arm and various other parts.
