hi guys i wonder if you can clear up an issue with my mod 2 i got on the 14th of this month. Do i have to indicate all the way around a multilane roundabout if i was for example taking the 3rd exit off and im in the correct marked out lane?

Indicate right until you pass the exit before the one you want, then switch the left indicator on, do your lifesaver, move over if clear, and go.

i presume you have been paying some one for some sort of training?? would it not be for them to advise you on the correct use of indicators? i am not saying that any info you get from on here will be wrong, but i wouldnt rely on info from any forum when it comes to what is required for your test.

that said...

on a multi lane roundabout that has clearly marked and segregated lanes, i would use my indicators to get my self into the lane and use them to exit it. ie, indicate when changing lanes. i wouldnt feel the need to use the indicator whilst in the lane. just as i wouldnt if it was a straight section of laned road, such as a dual carriage way.

there is a situation where this isn't true in crossgates - leeds and the (arguably more famous) hogarth roundabouts. the main road leads past 12 o'clock and to deliver a right turn signal would be a false indication of your intentions.

edit:

(i should have said, these are the exception, not the norm. Indeed these are the only 2 roundabouts where i could think this to be the case)

agree, normally if your exit is past 12 o'clock indicate right until the exit before yours. at this point change to indicating left

You must treat ALL roundabouts as 2 lane or more even if unmarked, mini roundabouts are the exception. Not many people do in real life but you should for your test.

The best tip for indication is pay attention to the examiner, if they say straight on at the roundabout and its past 12 o'clock don't indicate right, use the left lane. If they say turn right or exit right indicate and use the right or center lane depending, always stay in the lane as far left as practical however, as per highway codes stay left rule.
