Hi All,

I have a 2001 Honda CG125 which up until recently has been running perfectly.

Unfortunately in the last few weeks it's not been changing gears properly and some gears, particularly 1st and 4th, seem to have almost no oomph to them at all.

I have also noticed that when changing from neutral to 1st I no longer need to find the biting point as I can simply let go of the clutch and it gets into gear without stalling.

I personally suspect that the clutch itself has died, if its the original in the bike then its getting on for 12 years old now!

However I don't have a huge amount of experience and cannot say any more than that, and even that's a mildly educated guess.

I've also noticed that the dash light doesn't work any more, although I suspect that is something simple like the bulb or fuse but I haven't yet checked.

I plan to phone my local garage today, but any advice from here would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

what do you mean it goes straight in to gear without stalling?

do you mean you can put the bike in gear and let the clutch fully out and the bike will still run?

when you ride it do the revs increase but you don't seem to pick up speed?

Exactly that. I can simply let go and it stays running.

Yes, I get lots of revs, and very little speed.

your clutch is slipping then

first thing to try is to adjust the clutch cable if no joy sounds like you will need new friction plates

Bikes now at the garage so hopefully they can sort it fair quickly

Hopefully they're honest as adjusting the clutch cable takes just a few seconds.
