Guest Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Hello All,My name is Mike and I've been riding motorbikes for over 5 years now (the proper ones at least). Currently it's my beloved '06 R1. We are also working on a small mobile app startup with my mates, and as we are all riding bikes we thought that we would like to make something for bikers - a motorcycle riding tips/guides (at least for a start). We have just released a free beta version on Android (Apple is a bit picky when it comes to apps that are not finished so no iPhone version yet). For now it contains some basic riding tips and guides but we have some advanced content ready to be added, based on a very helpful book 'A Twist of the Wrist' and our own experiences, but we would love to get some feedback before we dive deeper into this idea. I will not be adding any links now as I don't want to spam the forum, please let me know if anyone would be willing to help us out and provide some feedback/suggestions.Thanks, Mike Quote
Guest Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 As there was some response via PM here is the link:https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... m.fbs.motoPlease bear in mind that this is only a beta, there is around 40 advanced topics waiting to be added but only once we confirm that there is any interest in such app. Thanks a lot in advance,Mike Quote
Stu Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 feedback It looks ok up to now I have only had a quick look one thing I hate about some apps is the way some auto put a link on your phone home screen not everyone wants them on there Is it going to stay free? you could do with a link for websites and forums not forgetting to put this one at the top I dont like the way that when descriptions go on to a second line the second line starts under the image it would be better if it was directly under the first line Im using a HTC oneX if it makes any difference Quote
Guest Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Great, Thank you very much!I was pretty sure we have fixed the title wrapping issue in this version already but clearly we have not! That will definitely be fixed. You mentioned a link on your home screen, did this app do that? I will have that fixed if it did, totally agree with your opinion. As for the apps pricing, the existing articles will definitely be free, we were thinking about giving an option to purchase the 'pro' articles for some small price (i.e. standard £0.69) or leaving it all free but with some ads embedded in the app. Still need to figure out this one.The app will definitely have an 'info' section on which we will be more than happy to list some useful links Thanks again for the feedback Quote
Gin Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I could only use something like this on my Ipad so if your able to get something apple friendly send me a pm and i'll be happy to help all i can.. In the mean time will pass this around my course mates to see if they're interested Quote
awicks Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I have some questions about the permissions the app requires. I have had a quick look and cannot work out why some of the permissions are required. Can you please provide an explanation for the following - permissions I can currently see no requirement for:HARDWARE CONTROLS- CHANGE YOUR AUDIO SETTINGSYOUR LOCATION- APPROXIMATE LOCATION (NETWORK-BASED)- PRECISE LOCATION (GPS AND NETWORK-BASED)YOUR MESSAGES- RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES (SMS)YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION- READ YOUR CONTACTS- MODIFY YOUR CONTACTSThere are also a few typos, including in the "Use Your Head" part of Gear Up ("ad injuries"). Apart from the above I do like the idea of this app - it seems to have some sensible advice in.Andy Quote
Guest Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Thanks for pointing it out, the app is only a quick beta and I have totally forgot about the permissions that were generated automatically. I have put a fixed version on google play last night. Thanks, Mike Quote

Android due to lack of this restriction was just an easier choice for this type of test. But if there was some positive feedback iOS would be definitely the next platform for the app. Quote
