Stu Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 dont be sorry its the only way to learn and thats what we are here for Quote
Tango Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 My thoughts about the charging circuit were because the bike bump started....but after going to the shops the bike needed bumping again....and was misfiring......normally if it was just battery you'd have trouble starting the bike....but once running it would be OK until you stop again and try restarting....whereas, if the charging circuit is not working the bike will run until the battery voltage gets too low for the CDI or ECU to work correctly and then all the misfiring and cutting out happens.......as happened to littlecat recently..... So......when you get the bike back to the dealer insist they check the charging circuit out.....and don't just send you off with a new battery....which will be OK until it runs down if the charging circuit is shafted...... Chrissb6 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I've already posted this link else where but it a good read and heads up on batteries so here it is again should you have missed it. Stu just a thought, it might be a good idea for the forum to tag some of these links to help folks out in the future.http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/newbattery.htm Quote
Stu Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Had a quick look Chris there seems some good info on there I will look at it more when I get home Quote
Abraxix92 Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Alright been to the dealers again they have had a look at it,Apparently the battery is fine, but something under the engine that you twist (cannot remember now) which apply throttle and makes the engine sound different was on too much, and that apparently drains the battery faster?Regardless they have said if it does it again to simply go back and they have one ready to give me free of charge. not sure why they haven't given me it just incase. Tango Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 They're pulling your pisser aren't they?........ What could be on the engine that is linked to the throttle that could draw that much current that it drains the battery to nothing? I'd hang on to that charger for a bit if I were you.....coz I'm not convinced about that...... Quote
Abraxix92 Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Possibly can't remember in the life in me what it was called! As long as it runs out on a friday so i can get to work its all good for me! Quote
Chrissb6 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 sounds like they are talking shite Don't let them fob you off, you've got the forum behind you keep us posted Quote
Bonniebird Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 The only thing that you twist and then engine sounds different is the idle adjuster (adjusts the speed that the engine ticks over at when its just running with no throttle) and I really can't see how this would flatten your battery. Quote
Ricky Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 They're pulling your pisser aren't they?........ Quote

I think this might be what they said, could be incorrect though as i must have a short memory spam. Quote

I think this might be what they said, could be incorrect though as i must have a short memory spam. The only things I can think of around this area would be the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) which is normally a passive component or the IAC Valve (Idle Air Control Valve) which can be a small motor or solenoid.....but either way, would be a small current device.....so they've either found something that they were too embarassed to admit to and corrected and gave you the above story....or they are trying to fob you off..... I hope that it is the former....and the bike will be OK now...... Quote
Abraxix92 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 Either way, back to the fu...ing garage, noticed i have a bubble on my front tyre, the one they said they would replace in a month for half price, got them to do it for free today at 4, thankfully the boss at work is a ex biker and understands the danger so let me have half a day off, having a bad experince so far with this CBR Edit: good news is though i work at a recycling place which deal's with batterys, i can either grab one which i won't or sometimes we get car/bike battery chargers, going to ask a member off staff to keep a eye out for me! Adam Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 To be fair it sounds more like the dealers fault for not servicing the bike before selling it to you.. Quote
Chrissb6 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Sounds like that shop needs a visit from trading standards if you ask me. Selling a bike with a blistered tyre for Christ sake!! What next??!! Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Indeed did some damage to the bike today, by accident of course, got it beached, the battery was also dead this morning after i did the mistake phoned them up getting it fixed and told them i need that new battery. Quote
