klingelton Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Hi chaps (and chapesses)riding into work this morning, I noticed a surging at around 3000 rpm when holding the throttle steady, the bike would seem to speed up and slow down slightly. It's a mild irritation, but upon googling it, I've noticed a few others complaining about a similar issue with similar bikes. Any ideas what could be causing this?so far i have:lambda sensor on exhaustthrottle cableworn fuel pumpthe bike only has 10k on the clock, so it's still a young bike really. Help would be appreciated. Quote
Fozzie Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 They are known for this!It is the fuelling, so the ECU is playing silly buggers.Try a different ECU, clean the sensors and if that fails I've read a power commander fixes it.Has the exhaust note changed at all? I hear when they do this it's accompanied by an extra loudness from the exhaust. Not much but enough to notice! Quote
klingelton Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 I like the exhaust note! I will give the sensors a good clean and see if that rectifies things. I was planning on putting a beowulf exhaust on there, so I should probably couple that with the power commander anyway. will need to wait a few months before i do that I think.Cheers Fozzie! Quote
Tango Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Also just check that you've not got an air leak around the airbox or injectors..... Most likely is the fuelling map......may be worth checking if the maps have been updated by Kawasaki and if they have has your bike been done......had this on my Speed 4......new map was available, but because the previous owner hadn't had it serviced by a dealer the new map wasn't loaded.......loaded the map myself and it was much better after.....
