I bought myself a cheap and cheerful 125 for learning on, brought it home and then made the schoolboy error of not putting the side stand on correctly. Anyway I went to put a cover on it and knocked it straight onto it's side with the gear lever.

Now it won't go into first at all, though it goes through the others fine (bit of a bugger to get into neutral though).

Any ideas on what it could be?

Hi,

Yes hopefully its just a bent lever. First gear is the only gear where the lever is pressed down it might be fowling on the frame

I'll have a look in the morning and see if there's a bent piece of metal haha.

Thanks guys.

my ex has to replace her gear selector fork (or something. I was only half listening) but has to wait about 3-4 weeks for the part to turn up. I hope, whatever the problem is, the parts come in a lot quicker than that for you! Although I'm sure I could get the parts within a week from somewhere else, but she said she didn't want my help, so screw her haha

It sounds like its something in the gearbox though, rather than anything bent that you will be able to see without taking it apart. If it was the lever/connector rod then I would have thought you would have problems getting it into other gears too
