Theash87 Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Evening allWent for a nice ride today on the bike as I pulled onto my driveway I looked down to see blueish water pissing out my radiator where it looks like something has hit it causing it to start leaking. 1st question - any idea how much a new radiator will be2nd question - any one else had a similar problem as the dent in the radiator is so small I can't see how it's split it causing it to leakAny help will be appreciated. Still in warranty but this isn't gonna be covered which is a painThanks Quote
buggerit Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Have u checked all the coolent pipes that their not punctured or coming off? They may of come loose after a knock. Off the top of my head new radiator will be around 100-150 but fitting is easy. I believe some can be repaired which may be cheaper. Quote
Theash87 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Posted July 20, 2013 The coolant is coming out where the stone I assume hit it. All pipes are in tact just this one dent. I'm hoping it is easy but I no nothing about bikes just ride them lol Quote
buggerit Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Usually its two pipes to loosen and a bolt where it hangs on the main frame. You need to un bolt the fan take that off and any themostat bolt that maybe on it. Might sound difficult but its very step hy step. U could get a haynes manual or see if anyone local can help. After putting on the new radiator you need to refil the coolent. (Sorry empty coolent first usually a bolt to undue ro drain. If not sure again you could ask a garage or ask one of the lads near to you on here. Quote
Tango Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 The reason why radiator protectors are almost essential........stones get thrown up and puncture the radiator core.....so the radiator protectors do exactly that......protect the radiator..... Put some K-Seal in there and unless it's a really big hole the K-seal should close it and protect your system......but I think if I were you I'd invest in some radiator protectors too....... Quote
megawatt Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 What Bob said. I am still using a Fireblade rad with KSeal it in it. Never had a problem with cooling since. Quote

Think this is a good idea my old one had this on and it looked knackered but still didn't leak. I only changed it because the hanger was rotten and fell off lol Quote
