Paul456 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I bought a bike at the weekend and the guy kindly gave me all of his equipment along with the bike. I actually have most of the equipment i need anyway, however i do like his leather jacket quite a lot, and it fits me well. Only problem is that both it and the trousers that go with it smell a bit as you would expect, and aren't really that appealing.I know i can wash the outsides with leather cleaner, already done that and looks better. I'm more concerned about washing the insides, but i have no idea how, any tips?I guess i can't just put them in the washing machine without damaging the leathers and they don't have removable linings or anything like that. Could i just turn them inside out and rub some sort of mild soap into them by hand? Quote
rennie Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 could you not just use fabreeze or similar on the inside?you certainly can't wash them! Quote

Paul456 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks for the advice guys.could you not just use fabreeze or similar on the inside?you certainly can't wash them!Already did that a little bit, but apparently not enough, still smells haha.Hi, if they worth some money this place i've just found might be worth a callhttp://www.scrubbersleathers.co.uk/price.htmlNice find. Not really sure how much they're worth tbh, but i don't really have any money right now so could still be a lot cheaper than buying some new ones.steam cleaning???, if u havent got one, i bet you know someone who has! Ah, good idea, i might try that, don't see what harm it could do as long as i'm careful not to damage the leather with the heat. Thanks. Quote
Joeman Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 turn inside out and leave out in the sun to air. the UV will help kill off some smelly bacteria too. Quote
Benn Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 If you take it to a dry cleaners, they have a special way of cleaning leather stuff which isn't dry cleaning. Quote
