Stu Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 when you say the other piston is out do you mean its not in the caliper? or its in the caliper but moves when you operate the lever? Quote
acting_strange Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 If one piston is seized and the other free, there would be no pressure at the lever... Quote
Tango Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Sounds like one of the pistons is stuck......could need a caliper strip and new seals fitted.....and clean the pistons if they aren't too bad...... Quote
Guest Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Yeah one piston has come out of the caliper and the other does not move (can't get it out) ? Also there seems to be a problem with the break fluid getting through? Quote
Stu Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 if one piston is out of the caliper exposing the hole you will need to put it back in and bleed the caliper then once bled up you will need something in the caliper to stop the pistons popping out again while you pump the lever to free the other piston Quote
Guest Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Ok I will try that tomorrow and get back to you sounds positive Quote
Tango Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I usually use a large allen key laid in the disk slot on the caliper......that stops the pistons coming out completely......so when the free piston hits that it can't come out any further.....and the other piston can then move when you pull the brake lever......as long as you have some fluid in the brake system...... Stu Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I use a spanner of a bit of straight bar to place in the caliper to stop the pistons popping all the way out Quote
