Tango Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Stu has made some changes to the Forum and it was felt that the "Show Us Yours" was a good thread, but people maybe wanted to add a bit more and also talk about their bike.....and also maybe follow its evolution during their ownership.....so this section is just that.....start a thread about YOUR bike.....pics, what's been done to it, any plans you've got in mind, pros & cons of ownership, etc..... I'll kick off with my Speedie..... 2005 Triumph Speed Triple 1050. I've owned it just over a year now. The bike came with the following extras:Factory option Black Tribal PaintFly Screen (painted to match the rest of the bike)Belly Pan (painted to match the rest of the bike)Triumph TOR cansCarbon Fibre Heat ShieldsCarbon Hugger and chain guardCarbon look frame protectorsR&G Aero Crash BungsTriumph T-Handle grab railRenthal BarsPazzo LeversTriumph Radiator and oil cooler guards.Thatcham alarm.Mesh air duct covers on side panels.R&G Tail TidyEarl's Stainless braided water pipes.Polished stainless front sprocket coverTriumph Bar End mirrorsI've added the following to it:Leather Seat cover with Dan Medica Gel seat pad.Triumph rear wheel nut coversPaintguard paint protection filmMobile phone holder and chargerI put a set of Michelin Pilot Road 3's on it last summer and also replaced the brake pads with Carbone Lorraine pads.Plans for the future? I'd like to get the front rad side covers and the lower tail piece Hydrodipped in Carbon finish and also replace the indicators with newer LED versions. Possibly also replace the rear light with one with a black lens.I also want to get the suspension properly sorted by professionals. And if I win the lottery I'd get OZ Piega wheels and Leo Vince Carbon cans...... What's it like to ride?.....anything from pussy cat to knife wielding psycho.... It'll bimble along at low speed in the higher gears no problem....but get it wound up in the lower gears and the front wheel just lifts. It's not in the same league as the out-&-out sports bikes....but it's more than quick enough for me..... Handling is OK too.....it will shake it's head over some of the bumpy stuff....but it really doesn't get nasty....and it can be pushed pretty hard through the twisties without any dramas. The real big thing that I like about it is the riding position....it is absolutely spot-on for me...the upright bars and slightly rearset pegs suits me down to the ground. 800 miles in effectively 4 days around Wales last Whitsun was easy....apart from day 2 where it rained like you wouldn't believe and the bike really has no protection from it..... Anyway.....a few pics of how it is at the moment..... Quote
RantMachine Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 After you guys set off from the White Swan yesterday, we came to the conclusion that it sounds like a mechanical dragon. This is a good thing.Best sounding bike ever, period. And quite probably the bike I covet most in the world. Quote
