isutty5 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Hi Guys,I've got a slight issue with my YBR 125. In the past month, I've noticed my exhaust has started to make a rattling noise. Research suggests a loose baffle but I could be wrong, I'm enthusiast wanting to learn to the point where i can diagnose on my own. But I can't build my knowledge without the help of more experienced riders.I've embedded a video I made so you can hear for yourself:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoABCUXCU-o This Bike is just over a year old, still under warranty. Is this something I can easily fix, or get repaired cheaply? Or will my warranty cover it? Obviously It's not stopping me ride, It's just not a nice sound. And If I go through warranty, I don't want to be left without a mode of transport so it needs to be a quick fix. This is my only method of transport.I really appreciate the help guys, it means a lot! Sutty. Quote
megawatt Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Sounds like external cover rattling to me. Just coz bolts are tight, doesn't mean they're gripping covers. Could also be another piece of metal resonating with the exhaust, so touch all covers in turn while blipping throttle. If not external, try pushing a dowel or brush steel with a pointed end down the centre of baffle , lean on it to see if it still rattles when you rev it. Either way it sounds like a warranty claim for a replacement silencer/system to me . Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 i agree with mega sounds like external guard or other area rubbing very unlikely to be main inside exhaust as it would of also got noiser when running and not just a vibration noise Quote
isutty5 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks for your replies Any Suggestions as to what parts could be causing the vibration? I will strip it down when I get home and check anything I can think of. Quote
Chrissb6 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Hi as said it sounds external, but being that it is still under warranty l would take it in, if the problem is inside and it requires a replacement part they might get a bit arsy if they see that screws have been tampered with. I would suggest you get everything done as much as you can whist the warranty is intact, You will have plenty of time to tinker with it once it's expired. Quote
