I currently have a £65 textile "waterproof" jacket, just wanted to find everyones opinions on these how theirs has stood up to the harshness of winter. I find when i wear mine in the heavy rain down the A12 at 60mph i get to work with a wet tummy, I was thinking of finding a jacket that folds over itself. Basically so when you do it up, a flap of waterproof material goes right across your chest, then the other side goes back across, so theres no little gap for water to squeeze through, Anyone had anything like this? Also personal recomendations, as i do commute a lot but currently leave a spare shirt at work!!

I got a Hunter waterproof jacket from a bike show a couple of years ago for £50. Frankly I'm amazed it still works. It doesn't leak but it does ride up and could probably do with a crotch strap.

For the money I don't think it performs any worse than something costing 3 times as much. The fit could be better but for 50 quid I can't really complain.

Going down to the MCN show in feb i'm hoping i can get a good deal on a jacket and boots :)

I have a Frank Thomas jacket, it's perfectly waterproof but does let cold air in around the chest area. It could do with being a bit longer in length too.

As I've said in other gear threads, my textiles kick butt. I'm yet to have water get through them (and believe me I've pushed them), they dry out really quickly, they're amazingly warm but also have vents and do well enough on hot days, and they do their job when hitting the floor too

I bought my textile jacket for 12 quid on ebay and it is semi-waterproof. I always wear a waterproof over the top anyway.

funny that, just been reading a review in a mag on a Rukka. Everything is good about it so i think i'll pop out and get one................£999

Mmm, thinking about it, my 2 bikes cost £900 for them both, so maybe i'll stick with the Guy Cotton industrial fisherman's top and trousers over cheaper warmer jackets. 100% waterproof, 1% style.

Biggest difference i have made to my winter motorcycling is to add one of these http://www.exo2.co.uk/exoglommc-mens-bo ... 662657838c Only draws about 1 amp and is really cosy

With that low current draw there are not many bikes that it won't work on. Certainly be OK on a 125 and i'm thinking it may well work on the C90

Super fashionable body warmer mate :D.

TBH i wouldn't be able to get that on over or under my jacket. Maybe i'll find something within my price range at excel willing to go up to £150 for a decent jacket.

just bought a RKSport three layer jacket, but yet to try it out in the rain. i have another waterproof RKSport jacket and it is fab, don't even need the thermal lining in yet. but it is hot in the summer, so reason for buying a new one with removable thermal and waterproof linings and lots of vents.

and to be honest, at about £80 they are as good as ones twice the price.
