I need a new rear on my track bike because it's got some nasty looking cracks in the side wall.

Only problem is that my chosen tyre is out of stock in the UK but there is stock of a greater aspect ratio.

My standard tyre is 180/55R17 and the available one is 180/60R17.

So far as I can see, this would add ~9mm ride height which I can compensate for with the suspension and would effectively up-gear the bike a bit but only ~ 3%.

Am I a nugget for entertaining this? Has anyone else done something similar and what was the effect?

Cheers,

Fro

I would of thought you would need to match the profile to the front as it's going to roll into a corner differently. Particularly with a track bike, as everything needs to be spot on.
