Blowing globes

Hi folks,In regards to my 1973 Kawasaki 100cc it keeps blowing globes,it is a 6 volt system with a new battery-all new 6 volt globes.after testing the rectifier and my wiring which has good connections and earths, all seems ok.If I recall from previous 6 volt bikes-if the head light blows there is less resistance in the circuit so the tail light blows.the lighting circuit runs soley on the lighting coil in the magneto which is separate circuit to the battery and its charging coil.

could it be vibration from the bike.

Im wodering if I install 12 volt globes this might cope with the out-put of the lighting coil.

this bike has been a 12 year restoration from a bare frame so all earths and connectors are new so from thinking and testing/trying different things I am at a loss so I would be gratefull for any input thanks...ken :?

Probably vibration.....has the headlamp and tail light units got the rubber anti-vibration mounts? Putting 12v bulbs in will severely reduce the light output. Have you tried a different brand of bulbs?.....maybe the ones you're using are a bit fragile? Also, is there any kind of voltage limiter on the lighting circuit?.....something like a zener diode to limit the voltage?

Got a wiring diagram?

Some bikes have the headlight running for the AC circuit, not DC from the battery.

If its DC you could easily fit a voltage regulator.
