hello all,

im pretty new to this forum, and im looking for some help!

im wanting to derestrict my bike. its a;

Suzuki Marauder GZ125

2006 model

Im just wondering if its a simple wire snip that i can do myself, or will it cost me a hefty amount?

Also would i be able to solder this wire back together when i come to sell the bike in a couple of years time?

And if anybody is aware of what advantages/disadvantages this will have then please inform me.

Thanks alot people!

listen to this lot :? its not legal :? have you passed your test :?

a restricted bike is just that "restricted" and you would get all round beter

performance if unrestricted  but sorry I cant help with how to go

about removing restrictor as there are a few ways they can do it

Yes we all know someone that's derestricted a leaner bike ...

But the key point is that it invalidates insurance ...

And as nobody likes been in a bump with anyone that doesn't have insurance, it isn't an activity we should condone.

Kill joys maybe, but the reasoning remains sound.

it could be restricted for learners so anyone who has a cbt can ride it

take the restrictors out and it could be too much power for anyone with a cbt

Where are the restrictors on a Marauder 125. It's not like it's a 600cc bike with washers restricted to 33 bhp and you can take the washers out v easily.

Markonovo you seem to trawl several forums with the same questions. I don't quite see why you got a marauder and want to derestrict that. Wouldn't you have been better off with something a bit more sporty than the relaxed ride that is a cruiser, doesn't make sense.

If you want to go faster and enjoy riding a bike and it's your future then go and pass your test and buy a big bike.

Googled something for you, it's from visordown, exactly my sentiment.

It's called reality. Years ago when 2 stoke learner bikes could easily make 20hp, they were restricted, nowadays 4 stroke learner bikes are built to be gutless from the off, so unless you're happy to totally re-design the engines of both the bikes you want to de-restrict then I'd be inclined to flog them and buy a bigger bike. You can't de-restrict something that's not "restricted".

how many people put 175 barles on 125 and run with 125 insurance?

how many people race thier mates? both invalidates insurance, how many

people break the speed limit? the old saying let he without sin cast the first stone :? not even Drew is that moral

No such thing as deristricting it bud, its a single cylinder 4 stroke, the only way to go faster is to give up the pies, its a simple matter of the power which cant change, to weight which can.

I know, I had one for 12 months, its a great lil learner bike but dont expect cbr performance.

No worries 8)

I was only wondering if it was possible. thanks to those that have actually given me helpful advice

This is far from true. this is the first motorbike forum that i've posted on! and also in reply to your point about me buying a faster bike, not all of us have the choice as to what bike we have. whether the desired bike is available at the time, or how much money we have in the bank at the time!

Iv decided that im gonna leave it for now, and just get my test done as soon as i can.

But thanks again for the helpful advice :)

Cheers,

Marko
