Guest Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Right i have finally got around to getting somewhere with getting a motorbike in the very near future and i would like to know a few simple things. So i dont have a CBT yet, Im pretty much ready to book it just by picking up the phone but due to work commitments its just finding what would be the right dayOne thing im wondering is if you can book your A2 and CBT together, so you go through your CBT and then straight on to your A2 within the course time.If not, im wondering in general if you complete your CBT do you need X amount of riding experience before going onto an A2? I know every bit helps, but in all honestyIm more scared of the smaller bikes, not just that, i dont want to spend close to £2k total on a bike ill use for a few months, The A2 gives me much more variety and i dont aim on going for anything bigger than a 750 in the distant future. And also i aim on getting a 250 for my first bike to ease me into the road rules, i would not go and get the most powerful 400cc i can or limit a higher tier bike, i believe i am sensible with most my decisions.Thanks. Tango Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Welcome to TMBF mate..... I think that some or most DAS courses do the CBT on the first day....and then go onto the Mod1 & 2.I assume that you are looking at the A2 test because of your age? All bikes that comply with the A2 license have a maximum power of 47.7 bhp.....so it doesn't matter if it's a 250, 400, 600 or 1000cc bike the limit is the same....with a limit on the power/weight ratio.....and the unrestricted bike cannot make more than double the max restricted bhp...ie, no more than 95bhp.... Good luck.... Quote
Dav3y Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I'd book CBT to be honest on its own. These can generally run at weekends which makes life easier for most. Most DAS courses can include CBT if you've not taken it or exclude/discount it if you have and you'll need to do theory anyway before Mod1/2.Whatever you do though, don't just do CBT and get a bike or you'll end up never taking your test.
