My friend has an NSR for sale, needs a new exhaust

But the problem is he was knocked off when somebody pulled out on him

Will it be f**ked?

Said he's sorted all the plastics out etc

But will that knock of caused a lot of damage inside?

thats a bit vague.

How fast was he going?

Where was the impact?

etc etc. It may have issues with the wheels, suspension, frame, handlebars, cracked engine etc etc etc, or it may be 100% fine.

:stupid: no mention of speed forks being bent frame damage engine casing damage wheel buckled lots more info needed really unless the bike is very very cheap and then its worth risking but if its anything more than £100 then more info required and does it still run?

Also, he asked for 500 last time, after the crash but he decided not to sell.

Think he'll ask for the same.

you would be best off going to look at the bike that way you can check the forks where they come through the yokes to make sure they are not bent there and that the wheel is not damaged or buckled, also any parts for the nsr if in good condition are selling for very good prices now most of the time so dont expect it to be a cheap repair job

From the picture which is light enough to see anything just about it's missing the air intake tubes (these don't do anything just hide wires) the side inspection panel is missing, end can looks as though it's been chopped off so he's probably sold it as they go for a good price on eBay £80+ for an arrow end can. The screen is missing in one picture as well which suggests some sort of frontal impact which means there could be a whole heap of problems.

Personally I'd steer clear of it, 2 strokes are like women you have to treat them well and buy expensive things to keep them happy, if you don't they can be unpredictable and very stubborn.

Basically if you want a 2 stroke spend more money on one, a decent one will go for between £1500-£2000 now a days.

Also those stickers are aftermarket which suggests it's been resprayed at some point, 9 times out of 10 this means it's been dropped and crashed and resprayed to hide the damage.

He does look after it, known seller for a few years

If I bought it say for 500 I'd be fine spending 150/200 tops on repairs/replacements

Needs a new exhaust for sure though

He's never had a screen on the bike and he's not had any problems apart from the crash

Well if you trust him then go for it, I know I'd be weary of it. Has he got any proof of a recent top end rebuild? If not then walk away cause that will sting you another £500 ontop of the £700 you want to spend on the bike and for that money you can buy a decent uncrashed one or even a mito.

Is that how much a top engine rebuild costs? :o

If you go to a garage it will be around that figure depending on where you live etc

Woah, I thought It'd of been easier and cheaper hence the 2 stroke

Is it difficult to learn to do that yourself?

Years ago, every 16year old kid with a moped knew how to strip and rebuild the top end with a handful of dodgy tools.. These days you have the internet and better tools so no reason why you couldn't learn to do it yourself.

Update:

Stopped looking for a while.

He hasn't been looking for anyone to buy since he's away working.

Wants 400 for bike mot runs out in 3 days.

From the pictures/exhaust etc I'm budgeting 600-700 so 400+mot+repairs

Think that'd hit my price range?

tell him 300 and the bike goes wave cash under his nose that often works well in helping them make their mind up
