Glorian Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Evening all. Had a little trouble yesterday with my bike, it kept cutting out on hills and some junctions. Now i went and had a look at it a short while ago, and it's idling very low. about 1000rpm sometimes less. OCcasionally it just cut out, Now i think (noob knowledge time) it's one of the cylinders not firing.Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions. otherwise i might take it back to the garage (as it's only done 70 miles) Quote
Tango Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Could be that the idle speed is set too low......but, if it's got some warranty on it I'd trot it back to the garage you got it from...... Quote
Glorian Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Think i will call them tomorrow.Done 70 miles on it. Not had any problems untill now. Quote
Stu Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 does it sound any different? if it was not firing on one you would hear it it could just be the idle needs adjusting a touch easy to do there should be a little black nob poking out near the carbs that you can turn to adjust it up or down could save you a trip Quote
Glorian Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Cheers stu. Will check that out tomorrow =) Got my haynes manual on the way so hopefully that will come in handy haha! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 have a look under the carbs inbetween carbs 2 and 3 you might see the black adjuster knob there ther it slightly clockwise like you are doing it up and see if idle increases Quote
Glorian Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 But would this have changed between when i got it (was fine) in just under 70 miles it's now behaving like this? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 yes it could of due to any number of reasons including slight cable stretch to the bike being pressure washed and maybe catching the ajduster with spray jet Quote
Glorian Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 Will have a quick look later on, but think i will take it down garage anyhow as it's under waranty so may aswell get them to look at it. Quote
Matt Strange Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 It'll change a bit with different atmospheric conditions i.e. pressure and temperature. I constantly have to tweak my old fireblade, all part of the ownership of carburettor bikes Quote
Glorian Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 I'm going to let it warm up a few minutes extra in the morning. As for stalling it i realised my rear brake is to high and need to adjust it lower! I was dragging the rear brake slightly and was stalling the bike haha Quote
Stu Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Your foot shouldn't be near the brake when riding!! Learn to put the balls of your feet on the pegs Quote

Learn to put the balls of your feet on the pegs Will give that a try on the way home. So used to having middle of my feet on the peg.Only stalled on hills but tbh i prefer from brake hill starts anyway. Quote
