Hello

My instructor quoted retake fees:

Mod 1 £170

Mod 2 £250

My question. Are these fees expensive(do i overpay) or reasonable?

How much you had to pay your instructor for booking? I'll be grateful for any answer.

I think this will be very useful information not only for me :)

Cheers.

I'd say it is unreasonable if it is just a case of taking you to the tests and providing a bike for them

Mod 1 is around £15 Mod 2 is around £80. So he is charging you ALOT for what is essentially bike hire and an escort.

If it includes lessons then it is reasonable.

Heya,

I had to retake my mod 1 three times  and each retake cost me £125.50 which was based on £15.50 Test fee and £110 4 hour session (Which worked out to a couple hours riding before the test, going to the test centre, waiting around at the test centre for a while before the test, taking the test, waiting for the other person with us to take their test, then riding back to the school or to do a little extra practice if we failed afterwards or to stop off for tea and biscuits when I passed hehe)

Mod 2 I failed the first and the retake fee for that was £185 (£75 Test fee and £110 4 hour session)

So I think you are being slightly ripped off if you ask me...

And just to put it out there, these were Camrider Prices.. A good, reputable school and not the cheapest around.

When I did my mod 1 it was £180 for a days training then the test the next day if you failed it was another £110 for the test fee, the bike hire and the instructor for as long as it lasted.

After that mod 2 was £280 for a days training and then the test, not sure about re-test fees as I know mod 2 is more expensive, I think in general the test centre charges around £15.50 for mod 1 and £75.00 for mod 2 anything over that is going to the training school.

are you sure you can use your own bike as your insurance wont cover you due to not having valid licence for that cc motorcyle, and also your licence is only provisional and that bike needs to be full licence as its above 125 and not a school bike?

My Mod2 had to be retaken :bang:

my instructor, Jeff http://www.jksmt.co.uk/ , from Gorseinon S.Wales, charged me £140 for the retest, this was a £65 half day at his rates (couple of hours practice follwed by bike rental for the test (as above)) and a £75 test fee

That's about right in my book. Standard practice and fees.
