faylogan Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Looking to buy one for the bike as it seems that having something that tells you someone is at the bike is better than just a fob that activates and deactivates the alarm. I need piece of mind that if i leave my bike and head into a shopping centre that if someone try's to take the bike i will know about it! This one comes at quite a price but i honestly think its worth it (if it works correctly) over a cheap one that's likely to not work or go off when a van drives past the bike or the wind blows! thanks Quote
mealexme Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 yup, Iv'e had it for about a year now. It's good for piece of mind. The fob works on two different wave lengths, which means it has a long range for if the alarm goes off, it will alert you, but you have to be close to it to manually arm/disarm it.I would definitely recommend it if you have an expensive bike, but I'll tell you the issues I have with mine1. I got the extras to enable me to disable the bike if someone rode off on it, however it does not work the way I wired it up. I wired it to the fuel pump as it told me to, but it doesn't cut out, it just jutters for a bit, then returns to normal. I need to re-wire it to the kill switch or something2. the fob does not keep time very well, at all. The big advantage of this system is its keyless, meaning you only have to turn the ignition on with the fob in your pocket and it will deactivate automatically. This is why I chose this over its competitors. I keep the fob in my pocket at work, then put my leathers over the top, so it means I'm not faffing around at the bike when I remember I need to access the fob. It also means I can never forget to arm it, because if you forget to arm it, you might as well have not bought the thing in the first place.Anyway, if you don't need/want the automatic arm/disarm, but like the idea of the fob going off when the alarm does, have a look at the Spy 5000M. It is a LOT cheaper and also lets you start the bike electronically. Unfortunately though, most bikes won't let you start them due to kick stand switches or the need to hold in the clutch to start the bike.Anywho, the SRi900 is defo worth it Quote
Joeman Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I've got a GPS tracker in mine. The bike sends me a text message or phones me when it moves away from its regular parking space. No need to carry another device. It can also be wired as a remote kill switch. Send one text and the bike shuts down. I've not wired that in yet.About 50/60quid for the unit and a 5quid per month mobile simcard on the giffgaff network. Quote
faylogan Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Aww see now im stuck! because i just spoke to Honda on the phone and they said that i shouldn't buy something from america if i don't know much about it! I have been searching for weeks and weeks for a decent alarm that's going to get my attention if someone try's to steal the bike! i don't want one that's going to be shitty and break after a few months. If i buy the scorpio SR i900r i think i will be reassured that its going to work. can you guys post a link to where i could buy one? or know anywhere in the Uk that supplies them? As for the SPY 5000M i just had a quick look and that looks like another american manufacturer. Does any company supply from the UK a decent standard of alarm?? Quote
