Tango Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 My bike will start with the sidestand down........but as soon as I put it into gear it'll cut out if the stand is still down........so you may want to check the sidestand switch like the others have suggested...... Quote
Ricky Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Sorry that's what I meant Don't think I'm all together today Quote

And try to get it into neutral before trying to start it again...... I have days like those Ricky...... Quote
sutty86 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Will do Where can I locate the side stand switch Quote
Tango Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Normally right near the sidestand pivot........look for a wire coming from that area and the switch will be right there...... Quote
sutty86 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Will have a look nowAlso put some fuel cleaner in other day worked obviously until it stopped working after kick stand down...Don't think it would make a difference Quote
sutty86 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Switch looks good moves accordingly to kick sprayed with wd40 and tried starting in neutral .Still same outcome.Had a look at the spark plug didn't have the right socket but got a shock off the wires going down to the head of the spark plug. Ricky Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Sorry if I've missed this but can you hear the fuel pump in the tank buzz when you turn the key? Quote
Paul-Kent Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 You need to get plug out to test spark and compression Quote
sutty86 Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Will nip to halfords tomorrow may as well buy another spark plug just incase Will need a 3/8 drive also Quote
Adam Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 To test compression put your thumb over the sparkplug hole and press the starter button there should be enough force to push your thumb away. If both are fine pour some petrol into the spark plug hole and replace the plug and try and start it, if it starts you have a problem with fuelling. Quote
sutty86 Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 Solved!!!Bought a 10mm spark plug socket and an iridium spark plugCr7hix And it started first time revving around 2000 rpmBut I'm sure it will come down...Checked old spark plug was covered in carbonAnd compression test worked fineBut the spark plug still sparked which is confusingBut mods please relabeled topic has solved for future Quote
