Guest Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 When I had the bike serviced I think they used shitey oil (non synthetic?)Going to change it back to synthetic. I used to use semi synthetic mobil - worked great for me, gear changes were good and it found neutral much easier. Now it's worse.Shall I go for the fully synthetic? Using the trade card at halfords I might get some Castrol fully synth. And also - is car oil alright to use? I know there are debates about this. Thanks Quote
Stu Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 car oil is fine to use providing you dont buy the stuff with friction modifiers in it or energy saving theres not many of them out there that will cause clutch slip Asda sell castrol semi synth for £12 for 4 litres I have used this in the TL for the last 7 years and now my brother has got the TL he has just bought some to stick in never had any problems with clutch slip etc on the torque monster Quote
Guest Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 You won't notice a difference between semi and full. Maybe after 6-8k of riding with the same oil... The only real difference you'll find is that you can go longer with the same oil if its fully synth. Otherwise just stick with the cheaper stuff... FWIW - I my last change (done 200 miles ago) was fully synthetic. No difference (but I will be changing it at 5-6k now rather than 3-4k). Quote
Guest Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Thanks guys, I'll be changing it this weekend then Quote
