craigwf3 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 just thought id ask you guys what to check before I take it to a garage, it was working fine when I left work today then half way home it stopped working, the rev counter is still working ok and the bikes running fine and the only thing ive done to the bike is change the oil so I cant imagine that can do any harm. its a 1998 cbr 600fw and I have no idea where the speedo drive is, any ideas Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 speedo drive wil either be a cable from front wheel or from a unit bolted to front sprocket cover so just look at sprocket case on engine if nothing bolted to it normally with 2 ten mm headed bolts then go have a look at front wheel and you will see a cable coming down to a unit between fork and wheel on one side sounds like the cable has snapped Quote
craigwf3 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 its not on the front wheel so i will check the other place you suggested tomorrow, hopefully a easy fix. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 if its not on front wheel then it is the electronic pick up type could be anything froma blown fuse to the sensor packing up Quote
craigwf3 Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 not sure whats wrong with it, i jumped on it this morning to come to work and its working fine, maybe just a glitch or its on its way out time will tell. Quote
fullscreenaging Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Is the FW injection? If so it could be the speed sensor. Mine went on a 2002F I once owned. If I recall correctly the sensor cost me £125 plus fitting costs. I had to take it to the dealers 'cos it's in a bast*rd place and I just didn't have the tools to do it. Quote
craigwf3 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 its the carbs version and it worked fine yesterday but it could be a sign its on its way out. Quote
