Stu Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 if anyone has used google maps for sat nav you will know how good it can be but as we all know you need internet onand to be fair its no surprise to read this http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/05/29 ... avigation/ the only downfall is you have to download the areas first!! just thought I would post it for info really Quote
fq-craigus Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 This is good to know, i have to plan my stops when out on the bike to check directions if im not plugged in for voice guidance. I was using the nav on google tonight and it still amazes me how good it is for free, and with how good gps positioning is on phones it works pretty much seemlessly. Wonder how long until google turn round and start charging for all the services that people have become reliant on Quote
Tankbag Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 the only downfall is you have to download the areas first!! I use this on my android, but how do I download a Country first ? for instance, Turkey Quote
Dav3y Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Pretty sure offline maps if you can call it that has been available for some time. It's very restricted to small areas though so you can't do a country. Just zoom in on the area you want and drop the menu down and select 'make available offline'. You then get a box pop up showing the area to download with an estimate of data size.Alternatively, go to My Places and then select offline tab from popup and select New offline Map.Turkey doesn't work for some reason Quote
Stu Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Offline maps has been available for ages but offline voice guidance hasn't Quote
Dav3y Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Ahhh, I see.Use Sygic myself anyway. Google pronunciation is shit. Quote
