rice-pudding Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Think I'm going to have tap new holes on my header and 3 bolts sheared off. I think the original bolts are m8 can I re-tap the hole to m8 or will I have to go up a size ? Quote
Mr Fro Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 If you can get the old bolts out cleanly then you should just be able to run a tap down the old threads to clean them up a bit. Quote
rice-pudding Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 So just go up size by size and hope for the best? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 if they are 8mm threaded bolts then you want to run a 7.5mm drill into the centre of them personally i would start witih something smaller to do pilot hole and often the heat from drilling can be enough to get whats left of the bolt out without damaging the thread Quote
rice-pudding Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 OK, cheers guys, going to borrow a drill from work tomorrow and give it a bash Quote
