Steve D Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Anyone been on one of those courses? I'm going on one tomorrow on my FJR - an all day job. Had a chance to get it free so I thought, why not? Just wondering what to expect. Quote
CGD217 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I've seen a lot of positive feedback about them, so let us know how you get on.I'm looking to take one soon. Quote
al_stu Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Been on a short one, just the supervised ride. Definately worth it Quote
Tango Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Part of the day will be the theory......road positioning etc......then the observed rideout.......job done..... Quote
Steve D Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 Part of the day will be the theory......road positioning etc......then the observed rideout.......job done..... Exactly as above. Had a great time on the second ride out - fast country lanes with a cop on a bike as our get out of jail card. We had a free lunch at Frankie and Bennys and got a goody bag as we left - a book, a pen, a keyring, a high vis jacket, neck tube, torch, tyre pressure gauge, tread depth gauge and a few other bits. Most of us there got the day for free courtesy of TFL funding but it would have been worth the full price of £45. One bloke was well pissed off though - despite being told to turn up on a roadworthy bike, this bloke who was in training to be a community copper, turned up on a Kawasaki replica race bike in full, one- piece leathers including the back hump bit, matching gloves, helmet and boots. Unfortunately he had an indicator out, a headlight not working and a number plate the size of a postage stamp. They said they could have possibly overlooked that but not the front fork that was pissing out oil all over the front brakes so he was refused the opportunity to take part. He was not a happy biker. Still, we shared his burger and chips around at lunchtime so it wasn't a total write off. Quote
Epic Earl Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Didn't know about this, tempted to give it a go, every little helps as it were Quote
Steve D Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 TFL = Transport For London. I don't think they quite reach Yorkshire yet mate! Quote
Epic Earl Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 yeah but I can pay for a course in Yorkshire for £49, so a good investment Quote
