Guest Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 So I bought a bike today, Kymco Quannon 125, the man brought it he was riding it, it was running perfectly fine. He leaves, I go to turn it on and dead as a door knob. No heads up, no lights no nothing. Could this be because I think I turned the bike on and tried to start it in first gear?Cheers Quote
Mr Fro Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Could be in first but you'd probably have some dash lights when you turned on the ignition. Might well be a flat battery. Has it got a kick start? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 you would still have dash lights and indicators, have you made sure you have put it in neutral and got the green light showing on the dash if yo have got neutral with no light then battery dead it might kick start, personally i would be contacting the guy who sold it asking if the battery was dead when he left home to ride it over to you and see if you can talk him into sharing cost of new battery Quote
Glorian Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Never buy a bike that is already started/warm. Quote
fq-craigus Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Try jump starting it, sounds like battery comp dead and not holding any charge at all Quote
Guest Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 It was indeed a dead battery, I bump started it and it worked. Funnily enough the lights work fine but the indicators nothing at all. Ill have to find my multimeter and test that battery. Also I turned it off and the rev counter is sitting at around 1k. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 its a kymco so it will have its odd quirks Quote
soll Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 its a kymco so it will have its odd quirks extremely harsh but fair, although my CK1 is doing ok for now..... 2 weeks to go Quote
Guest Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 hmm turns out the batteries fine. It only has one fuse in though. The manuals refer to two fuses, is that normal? I think its time for a professional to take a look at it and assess the bike. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 does the manual show or tell you where both fuses are located if so check to see if they are in place Quote
Guest Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 it does indeed, according to the manual am missing one, ive bought a 15a fuse and i plan to stick it in tonight. Quote
Guest Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I added in the new fuse, it fixed it. Works fine now Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 nice one glad its all sorted now just remember to carry a spare fuse in case it blows while your out on a ride so it doesn't leave you stranded anywhere Quote
Guest Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I will have to to be fair since the battery didn't hold one. Its time to get it completely checked out though to be safe. Quote
