KTM21 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I posted the other day about always going for a 7th gear and it made me decide to get a gear indicator from ebay. I've wired it up fully but you need to connect it to the neutral wire so it will display neutral as well as keeping it in sync. The problem is no matter where I connect the white wire to the neutral wire, it won't work. I'll go from neutral to first or second but when you go back to neutral, it doesn't change and just displays the gear you were previously in. I have tried connecting it at the neutral light and where it comes out of the engine but it doesn't change anything. Any help or advice?Cheers Quote
fq-craigus Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 You sure you have the right wire? On my old bike when i fitted one of these (which i ripped off a week later because it didnt work properly) i believe the wire your looking for is a switched neg, and when its neg it displays N Quote
KTM21 Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 I'm pretty sure I have the right wire, it comes from the engine and goes right up into the N dash light. Quote
jamesrb90 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 When I'm riding and putting in neutral it won't show 0 until I come to a full stop. What gear indicator you got? Quote

I think I saw somewhere that when you put the bike into neutral, it should overwrite whatever gear it thinks it's in and just display a zero. Once it displays zero, it resets position so it doesn't keep getting out of sync. Quote

Some bikes the lever doesnt move, others the lever will move up but obviously not change into 7th.If your lever can still move up whilst already in 6th, your display will go up a gear to 7th! Quote
KTM21 Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 I had another look and realised something...This is where I thought the blue wire went into the engine But there was wire coming out the back of that cable So I followed that all the way to the neutral switch I hooked a wire around it and checked to see if it worked. It works if you go down from 2nd into neutral but it doesn't work if you go up into neutral. If you go up from 1st, you have to move the lever a touch down and back up again and then it displays the zero. I'm not sure if that's the best I'm gonna get. Quote
