What forks are on my Bandit?

Hi all,

I am getting towards the end of restoring an old Bandit to use as a commuter. Its a mk1 1998 600 naked. I wanted to upgrade the forks to something a little better so I went ahead and ordered some Hagon springs.

Only trouble is once they arrived they were 160mm shorter then my current springs and after a little digging it appears that I don’t have original forks on this bike!

Is anyone on the forum able to help me identify what forks these are? My brakes seem to be the standard ones, and the mudguard which fits fine. I also brought replacement seals and these fitted fine, the only difference was that the dust seal didn’t cover the complete top of the fork but I thought that might be by design.

Messurments:

Spring length – L=455mm

Stanchions – L=625mm, 41mm in diameter

Fork bottoms – L=374mm, 49mm in diameter at the middle part, and 61mm at the top.

Spindle – L=250mm, 49mm in diameter and 61mm at the widest part on one end.

Caliper mounts are 80mm apart C-C

Damper L=208

I think I may have solved it.

I have just watched a video on youtube of someone taking a bandit fork apart the the spacer looked a lot longer then mine. so it could just be the wrong spacer and spring inside my forks.

my current spacer is 90mm, does anyone know the lenght of the stock bandit mk1 spacer?
