Meant to ask my instructor last lesson...on the road test...say your on a duel carriageway with a 70mph limit...the road is clear...what speed should I aim for.

If we encounter queuing traffic again on a duel carriageway...would the examiner expect you to filter if you could.

70 if the conditions state.

As for filtering i was told i was expected to filter if the situation presented its self, dont know why as its not compulsory and some bikers never filter. I was followed by the examiner in a car so i wasnt able to filter but i had covered it in lessons

It's not required to filter on test, so why give yourself 1 extra way to fail? Just sit and watch your hour tick away in traffic!

It's not a fail!

What is a fail is not making good progress!

No I didn't mean filtering itself was a fail, but doing it badly will get you a fail - wrong observations or if they deem you filtered dangerously or at an inappropriate time. It's very subjective at times so why muddy the waters?

I had the opportunity to filter on test, did as my instructor told me and stayed in the queue as its not a requirement to filter. The examiner didn't say a word and I didn't get a mark down.

You have to give that sort of reply on forums as people can miss interpret what your saying ;-)

I got stuck in a line of traffic on my test for about ten minutes I didn't attempt to filter and I didn't get any minors for not making progress. My opinion is why do something risky that is not expected by the examiner. However if you're on a 70mph dual carriageway and there is a car doing 50mph in the left lane of course you should overtake.
