No mention of me on the BBC news page as another infamous bass player who went to Madeley High School. Honestly, the standard of reporting these days...

Not forgetting his days with Hawkwind.

Great personality. Straight talkin.

Yep.....I first became aware of Lemmy when I heard Orgone Accumulator off Hawkwind's Space Ritual album 40 years ago......and I still enjoy listening to it now!

Anyway.....I feel that music has just lost one of the greats.....A great bassist, a great songwriter and lyricist, a larger than life character and a thinker....I would say RIP, but I can't see him doing that.... :wink:

Yeah, his birthday was Christmas eve I think.

True though Steve.....they're starting to drop like flies..... :(

I remember a non descript twerp interviewing Lemmie for something like Nationwide with the question;

"Why is it so loud?"

Answers Lemmie "Because I am not having anyone talking about the price of cabbage in Tesco whilst my music is on"

There may have been one or two other words to add emphasis..

Given his lifestyle to make it to 70 is in itself some kind of achievement. But to die just 2 days after you've found out you have cancer is really tragic. No time for anything.. least of all goodbyes..

"I didn’t have a really important life, but at least it’s been funny."

He wasn't too well for a year or 2.......Motorhead had to cancel a few gigs about a year ago...... :(

From what I've seen on FB it seems that he had his family with him when he went.

I know his music isn't everyone's cup of tea......but at least his songs had something to say, unlike some of the inane sh*t that's around at the moment!!

I'm quite saddened by his death......been a Motorhead fan since they started out......and Hawkwind before that..... :(

I saw Motorhead a few times at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in recent years....... And they had Girlschool as support one year, Steve...... 8-)

I saw them on the Bomber tour with girl school as support. They weren't as loud as The Ramones who I saw at around the same time. They used Phil spectres wall of sound and my ears buzzed for 3 days after that gig. Van Halen supported the Ramones as they were an unknown band at the time
