Ok guys ... Just bought some clear indicators for my bike to finish it off. Looking at fitting the front units I have clear bulbs coming out of the original with orange lens'

Nothing wrong with that except that the bulb holders are the style I would expect for break/side light. They have bulbs with TWO pins on the base.

Obviouly with clear lens' I now need to swop them out for orange bulbs but to my knowledge I am not going to be able to get orange bulbs with tqo base pins.

Any suggestions how I can make them orange. Thought about paint but that seems wrong!

There must be a way round this or why would clear indicator len's be sold?

Look on eBay. I bought a pack of 20 orange ones for about £6/7 I think, last year ready for my euro trip

With two pins on the base Deso?

Did look but saw nothing at all.

Twin element are usually for the American market as some bikes have indicators used as marker lights also. Maybe try American eBay instead

Now that might make sense, Paul. My bike is a USA import!

Great info Paul

Yeah mine are single Phooey

Sorry I was no help.

Always helpful, Deso. Even if only to narrow it down! Appreciate your attemps

you could always bridge the two sections where the bulbs connects then just fit single element bulbs and just use one of the wires coming out into the loom,or if you have got a old set of indicators kicking about use the base connector plate out of them converting them that way to use orange bulbs

Yeah thought about dropping a spot of solder across the two pins in the base to join them.

I have the old original bases but was hoping to get a few pennies back by re-selling them. They are going for a tidy sum on flee bay. I've seen £30 per side. Will certainly recover my outlay.

Do they have to be actual bulbs or can you switch to LED?

LED amber - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2PCS-High-Qua ... SwwbdWOCEd

Now that is a definite possibility - As long as I don't get the usual shit with resitance issues when using LED's

Of if you have DRL you could get Switchback Bulbs and do what I did

">

Never seen these before so do I assume they are white when off and amber when flashing? What is DRL?

Failing that, surely a bike/car garage will have some that fit and are amber? It is not that unusual as far as I can tell.

My local garage shook his head, passed it back and said ... 'Good Luck'

As said, DRL = Daytime Running Lights. And yes, white when the bike is on, flashes orange when indicating. When I done mine I swapped the flasher relay for an LED compatible one. That meant I didn't need to mess around with resistors, it just does it automagically. Not sure if every bike has this though.

most usa origin bikes use amber daytime running lights as ive never seen a bulb that can flash orange but also be white for daytime riding its the same on american cars amber running lights on the front that then flash amber when turning so if the 2 poles are bridged use single filament bulb problem solved the easy way

lol ... automagically ... love it.

Looks like a solution

Ooo nice. I was looking/daydreaming about bikes on auto trader earlier and came across an MT-07 with orange bulbs. :-

So maybe a yamaha dealer might do them? Or are you looking for a particularly odd size?

I have the MT09 Tracer Arwen.

That's why I attempted to help out at the start of this thread.

The bulbs are one element in Europe but Phooey's bike is a US import that has a two element bulb, so they won't work.
