StolenMadWolf Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I think the bike is fine now really, but I want to check if the bike needs taking into a garage.I'm not entirely sure what happened, but last night I was trying to park my KLE500 on grass to the side of an uneven dirt road. For a moment, I felt like I had got the bike stuck between the raised grass and the middle of the track but it turned out that the bike was somehow knocked out of neutral. Which was to me, odd because the bike wasn't running and I had left it in neutral to start off with. The gears appeared to still be shifting but it couldn't lock on to neutral. The bike started up fine, but refused to shift into neutral (too be honest I wasn't even sure what gear the bike was in at all). After moving it forward and fiddling with the gear changer the bike switched back into neutral and I could safely get the bike to an another spot to park.I rode it back home and it seemed fine, and I've done my best to check it this afternoon and there doesn't seem to be any damage. I'm going to give it a quick ride today to make sure it handles fine.I can only guess that during the pushing the bike around I somehow managed to knock the bike out of neutral and the bike needed to move forward to get it back into neutral. Anyone have any idea what might have happened and if it's worth taking to the garage? Chances are it proberly won't but I want to be sure. Quote
Classickid21 Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Might be silly but have you checked it has oil? Is it clonky when your changing the gear by hand ? Quote
Stu Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 slightly warped clutch plates can cause this sort of problem as can worn selectors and star shifter and detent spring! if its a one off I wouldn't worry too much Quote
StolenMadWolf Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Doesn't feel clonky, though I did go for a rather long distance a couple of days ago so I will give the oil a check. This is so far the only time its happened, so I don't think it will be a problem. I will give the oil a check anyhow. Quote
Throttled Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Mine can be a bit sticky at times and is reluctant to select neutral. I just park up in gear, switch off leave it and find on restart it is fine. Almost like re-booting a stuck computer. Quote
