JamBerryKing Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I have a fitbit HR. it tracks my sleep, tracks my heart rate, tracks steps. its a pretty decent piece of kit, and its socialable too, you can add friends on it and compete with each other over challenges, like how many you can do in a workweek or over the weekend.i just love it for the sleep tracking mostly. Thank you JBK! I was keeping an eye on this thread for sleep more than anything.. I have a sleep monitoring app at the moment but it's not that accurate.. I have never slept well so want to more closely monitor it to work out what helps and what hinders.. As Bonnie said, a more accurate pedometer for when the phone is in a bag or sitting on my desk is also very useful Quote
Fozzie Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 @ Philyoung I echo what has been said about the watches, unless you are interested to see how you feel correlates to what is happening they are pretty useless.A big element to any weight gain/loss regime is being open with yourself. I’ve heard too many stories starting with “big boned” or “my genetics” and even “I have thick skeletal muscles”. Genetics can play a part with your metabolism, but the rest is myths used to justify themselves, which is bad in itself as it shows there is insecurity there. People hide behind invented issues to palm off the fact they just like their food, when there is no problem being that way. The problem I have is why lie to yourself? It only makes things worse.Any issue can be overcome, a slow metabolism benefits from increased activity, whereas my fast metabolism requires a lot of eating without overdoing it on fat. Trying to keep carbs and calories high while keeping fats low is far trickier than I ever expected. Quote
Joeman Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Another alternative to fitbit is the Withings Activite Steel.Plain looking watch that tracks loads of stuff. And it's waterproof.www.Withings.com Quote
