The Voyager Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 So I'm custom building my bike up from scratch. Relocating a few parts about and the ignition coils could do with being pushed under my tank. The left rear coil is a little short, I know they require strict 'firing times' - is it possibel to lengthen one or 2 of the wires and stil have it all in time? Quote
Tango Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Yeah....lengthening an HT wire a few inches shouldn't hurt.....The timing may go out by a nanosecond or 2..... Quote
The Voyager Posted March 11, 2016 Author Posted March 11, 2016 Yeah....lengthening an HT wire a few inches shouldn't hurt.....The timing may go out by a nanosecond or 2..... Do certain engines have certain wires or is a wire a wire? What does HT stand for? Quote
Tango Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 HT is High Tension......basically it's the very high voltage to the plug caps.....I assume that's the wire you're talking about? You can buy the wire by the foot from car spares places, or online..... Quote
Joeman Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 It's fine. A couple of inches doesn't make much difference when you're traveling at near the speed of light! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 stick your tongue on the end of the wire as you turn the engine over .............you will soon understand what HT does Quote
