replacing carb

Ok so turns out.my carb is done for. So what other carb if any will fit the vl125 v twin engine. Carb that is currently fitted is a mikuni bds26.

Seen one off a gz125 marauder? Manual choke but 26mm intake diameter. Single throttle cable? While mine is double

is your bike a single carb then on the v-twin engine if so then it seems strange that it runs on one cylinder and not the other if im thinking correctly about the other troubles you had

Bike was running great. Now the carb just fills the cylinders full of fuel and overflows out of the vent tube. I need the carb set up I think

you need to check float shut off height or maybe a carb repair kit which includes a new needle valve that shuts off the fuel

To save the trouble though would another carb say one off a gz125 marauder work ok? It has the choke on the carb body itself and a single throttle cable as opposed to twin cables on mine

i have no idea it would depend on jet sizes carb size in general where it goes onto inlet rubber and air box rubber and a carb rebuild kit is not that expensive

So it was working fine, something happened (didn't you drop it or something) and now it doesn't.

You know the carb(s) is/are flooding which is apparently a result of the incident therefore you don't need to change the carb settings.

EAB has told you the likely cause of the flooding - something is up with the float assembly. All you'll need to do is take the carb off, undo probably four screws to take the carb bowl off then wiggle the floats up and down a bit to see if the fuel stops flowing when they're raised. Bung it back together and you're done.

i've had the carb completely apart. even had the butterfly valve/tps out. now when putting it back together i see 2 holes by the inlet side of the carb. i know one should be exposed but does the other be covered by the butterfly valve. i cant remember which way it goes it. it can go in of 2 ways

can someone tell me if i've got the butterfly valve on the right way round?

Butterfly looks ok but you need to pull the float bowl off, either as mentioned the float level needs adjusting or you need new float level needle and seat.

What I'm getting at here is you don't need a whole new carb just some experience to know what your looking at or at the most a refurb kit.

When you took it all apart I take it you noted down all positions of screws etc so they went back in same amount as they come out

yes i have done. i have a good bit of mechanical knowledge but im lost when it comes to carbs. float height was reset etc. im not sure about the butterfly valve there though. im not sure 2 holes were present when i stripped the the whole thing

have you actually got a manual for the bike..........................if so have a look at the pics of the carb and see if it looks the same................if you havent got one then how do you know the float is shutting off at the correct height as that is fairly critical

i have a manual for the bike. i set the float height from that. doesnt show what way the butterfly valve is installed though

well looking at the pictures the fact that t he throttle mechanism is at rest on the adjuster then if the butterfly is operating as you open the throttle then it is t he right way round if you tried to fit it so it was covering one of the holes then not only would the throttle be half open but you could not operate the arm to open correctly

I have the same problem changed the fuel tap kid it's stopped flooding.

Everything depends on the floating lvl to high it floods and spills also carburettor tilt matters

I'm technic mechanic of school but just been doing bikes remand tell you one thing this
