seanycozzie16v Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 right installed new sprockets chain and a sprocket carrier bearing about a week and a half ago. bike passed mot today but the tester commented that my rear sprocket has quite a bit of play. i've checked this myself and i'm getting quite a lot of front to back movement and a little side to side movement say 2-3mm? is this normal? i may need to replace my cush rubbers soon as there is 16000 miles on the bike. any idea where i could find some for my bike? Valko Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 You can buy them here: https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/suzuki-parts/motorcycles/vl125-intruder-2001/rear-wheel-450459.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;item number 15.Having said that so much movement is not normal. You may have some missing spacer or the wheel bearing wear. Quote
Tango Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Yeah....sounds like the cush drive rubbers are worn.......worth replacing them.....especially if the tester didn't mention anything about play in the rear wheel, which would have implicated the wheel bearings.... Quote
seanycozzie16v Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 wheel bearings are in tip top condition mate. carrier bearing and dust seal was changed when the front and rear sprockets and chain was changed. i have found that on the spacer on the carrier side it has worn down quite a bit. i assure this was caused by the old knackered bearing causing it to move in the carrier wearing the metal away. i could flip the spacer round so that the unworn side sits in the carrier bearing and therefore eliminates play Quote
seanycozzie16v Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 £32.35 for the cush rubbers! who would of thought 6 bits of rubber would be so expensive.. Quote
