NeilM Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Right my southern friends. After a recommendation for a drinking hole in or around Borehamwood. We are going down Saturday for the FA trophy final at Wembley on the Sunday. After a pub to watch the FA cup final on the Saturday. I know some of you are relatively local.Needs to be a bit family friendly as the lad is going and my dad.We are staying in the premier inn just off the A1.Any suggestions please. Quote
TheJamesH1 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 No idea for a pub I'm afraid - but looks like it could be a great day out with the Vase on before the Trophy. Got to fancy Grimsby though Quote
NeilM Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 I know we are shite....But Grimsby will be partied out after last weekend. ..I hope Quote
JoshTimmins Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Not sure on how good they are but there are quite a few pubs in Borehamwood, I would say its would be more worth while checking out the little villages nearby (Radlett or Shenley) I can imagine them being much nicer There are also a few pubs on the road from Borehamwood to Barnet (A411) I'm not sure which ones playing the football. If you want me to do a fly by one of the pubs and check it out for you, let me know I am only round the corner. Quote
NeilM Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Cheers Josh. Swinging by is far beyond the call of duty mate. But cheers. The 2 villages mentioned. Are they a short taxi ride away? (Remember we are from Yorkshire ) Quote

(Remember we are from Yorkshire ) Radlett is around 15minutes from the permier inn, and shenley is around 10. Radlett is bigger then Shenley so I reckon you will have more chance of the footie being played there. Quote
NeilM Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Cheers Josh. If you fancy a pint Saturday afternoon/night give us a shout. We are planning on being settled somewhere for 16:00hrs. Bit of a bonus. For reasons only he understands my dad has said he will have the lad in his room. ...So that leaves my mate and I to play out a little later. This could of course be a bad idea as neither of us drink much nowadays and both when on the lager revert to being 18 again. ...lol Quote
JoshTimmins Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 If i am free with nowt to do I will pop over. That is a result, see you in central london? I will ask one of the guys in the office tomorrow on what he thinks about the pub situation, he often goes cycling round that way and stops off for a bevvy. Quote
JoshTimmins Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 So we cannot identify a pub which we can guarantee will show the football, but my colleagues say the same as me. Try Radlett (or Barnet) rather then Borehamwood itself if you can help it. However there is a pub closer called Mops and Brooms which is up the road from the premier inn on the way to shenley, but not sure if they play football. Quote
NeilM Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks ever so much for your help Josh.As I said. Fancy a pint give us a shout mate. Quote
NeilM Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Now then. Just a quick one.I was looking at Google last night and there appears to be a few boozers in Borehamwood centre.Anyone know what the centres like?Nice? Chavish? Welcoming to northern football fans?Don't really want to come un stuck with a 75 year old n a 12 year old with us.Cheers my friends Quote
JoshTimmins Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I've never been to the pubs there but I have worked on the retail park a few times. It is a bit of a chavvy area, and I'm not going to lie it is not the nicest of places but I don't remember there being too much trouble while working. I don't think being northern will be held against you. Best yet... If your really lucky.. you may see the cast of eastenders out and about around the town. Quote
NeilM Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 To be honest Josh.I doubt if I'd recognise the cast of eastenders...lolProviding they don't get served in preference at the bar it will be ok Quote
NeilM Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 Absolutely fantastic cheers mate. Just got home. Hard to believe really. You follow crap for days like today.Seen town lose on all 4 corners of this country. ...lolToday made it worth while. Quote
