Phooey Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Here I am asking for help AGAIN!Sorry guys. I have an oil leak fron my magneto cover - generator cover - I have tried gasket seal stuff the blue stuff ... still leaking. I tried cleaning off and fitting new gasket, TWICE ... still leaking. It looks like, on closer inspection, that it is leaking from the bottom bolt and not the gasket itself. Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks as always chaps. Quote
Tango Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 You shouldn't really have oil in the generator area......so I'm not sure why you've got oil in there, unless the crankcase seal behind the alternator is leaking...... Quote
Tango Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Any pics so we can see where the leak is?....... Quote
Phooey Posted July 22, 2016 Author Posted July 22, 2016 Any pics so we can see where the leak is?....... Found it .... the bloody casing is cracked just about the bolt. Quote
Tango Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 B*gger!......I wonder if some metal putty would seal that? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 B*gger!......I wonder if some metal putty would seal that?would need to take it off and clean all traces of oil away before any kind of chemical metal or similar can be used but i dont see why it shouldnt work its either try that or get new casing Quote
Phooey Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Just replaced it ... not worth messing around. Haad one from the old engine so just swopped over. Quote
