I've got a few corrosion and rust issues I want to take care of, but not sure what the best course of action is:

You can see rust and corrosion here on the brake leaver as well as the fixings on the left.

More on the brake cables, all cables are in a similar condition:

Any ideas welcome!

Clean them up with wire wool/wire brush/ emery paper.......then coat the areas with ACF50. ....... 8-)

How old is the bike?

I've got a dremel I was going to buy some wire heads for to spruce them up.

Bikes only 3 years old. But commuted on year round!

Yeah.....Some wire wheels on a dremel will do the job nicely...... 8-)

You could touch up the rough bits with some smooth hammerite after cleaning up with the dremel ..... 8-)

that looks like a good excuse to buy some braided hoses with stainless fittings

the rest I would clean up and paint then use acf50 on the rest to stop it happening in the future

They are easy to fit!

I wouldn't say they where cheap though especially if your bike has ABS or linked brakes

ABS and linked brakes usually requires more lines which pushes up the cost

I would say about £80 quid a set without ABS or linked brakes

Hammerite do a rust remover compound that works pretty well. A fine grit pad on a multi tool would be the best. Could shot blast it with silicone grain but tidying up will be a pain in the ass
