savo318 Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Hi all. i changed the front sprocket today, the chain was over stretched so i ordered a front /back sprocket and chain replacement set from choho.the front sprocket turned up with 14t, which is what the website said i would need for my bike 2006 honda cges brazil.howerever when i took the old one off its a 15t.will it make much difference if i use the 14t, is it going to knacker up my engine.thankspete Quote
Phooey Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Hi mate, it wont knacker your engine or anything. It will just mean that you'll get slightly better accelleration. You might want to chceck the accuracy of your speedo now though. I'm sure you might get a slight difference. Quote
Guest Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Some where when i was playing with gears i was told dropping 1 on the front has the same effect as putting 3 on the rear Quote
Joeman Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Some where when i was playing with gears i was told dropping 1 on the front has the same effect as putting 3 on the rear Yep that's normally about right. One down on the front means faster acceleration but lower speed for the same engine revs.I'm a strong believer that most bikes leave the factory over-geared just to meet emissions and noise regulations. First thing anyone should do is drop a tooth of the front sprocket. Quote
