Petr222 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Hi just wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2000 Cagiva Canyon which has had intermittent starting problems- which I have nailed down to a lazy starter motor. But upon taking of the engine cover to the alternator to gain access- a small amount of oil came out and the coil was coated in oil. Is this normal or should it be dry inside- ? If so I must have a leak or a gasket gone. Thanks for any help it's much appreciated. Quote
Snod Blatter Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 A lot of bikes have the alternator open to the engine oil, it can help cool the coils down. If there's no drain hole for the oil to drip out of then it's probably supposed to be like that.Do you know that the Canyon/River/W12 series have big problems with the starter clutch? Are you sure it's not that? Quote
