I am still looking into this. My only gripe is that the recalculation only works when it has a data connection - whereas other app based systems, Like Here We Go for example, work fully offline and without a data signal.

The downside of apps like Here We Go is that it doesn't let me choose the route at all.

Another downside of apps that run on the phone are mounting the phone - I use a Motorala and things like QuadLock, though they make a universal mount don't do a universal waterproof cover. I have a cheap waterproof case from Amazon but it's a faff to fix on and blocks the ignition barrel on the Honda. I'n not sure where some of these phone mount companies are coming from when they say they do a universal mount - but then add somewhere down the line - 'please note that this is not waterproof'. What good is that?

The Beeline app works very well. I have used it to plan a few routes and it does seem to select good routes by itself or be easy to redesign the route.
