WANTED 300-600cc motorbike, London?

Hello everyone,

*I'm new to the forum, and have been living in the UK permanently, in London, for about 2 years.*

Info: I have an EU licence, and am finding it quite hard to rent a bike without a UK licence.. and I don't have very much experience riding.

I used to own a GSR 600 Suzuki (2010) - very good bike, which I sold (in Greece, where I bought it from). I regret it, as I could have brought it over to the UK with me

I'm looking to buy a bike which is:

• ULEZ compliant (2007 onwards)
  
  
  
  • has ABS

  is a naked/ sports-tourer
  

  300-600cc
  

  User-friendly
  

  Comfortable

 

I have been looking on gumtree, autotrader, ebay, and have been going to various dealers (Honda Chiswick) and smaller garages near me (Bill Bunn - Ealing, Bikes and Scooters - Acton, Motorcycle Giant - Shepherd's Bush)… is a private seller or dealer best?

Some bikes I have test-ridden and which I like are the MT-07 2017, Hornet CB600 2006, Yamaha XJS DIversion F 2012, and some others I have been looking at include the Honda NC700s 2012 and the Honda CBR500R 2017. Any extra advice about buying your first bike in the UK (with an EU lience) will be appreciated, thank you. I have looked at insurance quotes but if there are things I need to know, please let me know.. I would very much appreciate it.

I'm loving my Royal Enfield Himalayan. Comfortable upright position, with nice features like ABS, and surprisingly good road touring ability in a 411cc engine.

There's a guy on here with the username Marino who also has an EU license so can probably give you a lot of pointers. In another thread he did mention that his insurance was astronomically high.
