raesewell Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Ah well, looks like it's an auto electrician for you then. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 The easiest switched live to find will be under your seat. Find the wires that go to your rear light - follow to the junction point (should be between your seat area and the rear light. Disconnect a coloured wire (not black) and switch on the ignition. If the back light comes on and the rear brake light now longer works - it is the other coloured wire you need. If the brake light works but the rear light does not come on - you need this wire! You could simply trim back the insulation on this wire and wrap your new feed wire round it and re-tape/insulate or, use a 'scotchlock' connector (but this is not very good with thin wires). Best is to solder the new wire to it.The earth/return wire you can connect to a good earth or your battery earth.Job done!NB. before any 'expert' dives in - This is the simplest method - not the best method. OK? Quote
raesewell Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 A word of caution, NEVER use Scotchlocks, they WILL fail.Use Positaps I linked the site in a previous post. Quote
