OK Mick im a little confused !

a few questions

do the indicators work at all?

you say when the headlight is turned on they go out - what was on befor tail or indies?

There could be a problem in that the resistors are actually needed to make the indicators work.

I would be tempted to join the two resistors together at one end. at that joint run a wire to the bike chassis. from the other end of the resistors connect one to each yellow wire of the indicators.

The resistors are required to "load" the power line feeding the indicators. The old lamps are just resistors that light up where as the led's are not like that and use very little power, so little in fact they make the flasher relay work incorrectly with such a light load.

Hope this helps to take the bananas out the picture.

I did read on a dutch forum that the LEDs mess up your electrical system because of the idiot light in the dashboard still needing more power banana banana. And when I do use my indicators all 4 flash together but the idiot lamp does not.

My "idiot" lights worked fine with all four being leds wired with resistors, I'm still tempted to say its more the bikes wiring that needs to be looked at rather than the units

this must be an earthing fault--could the new tail unit be faulty?? the install is straight forward and everything worked before fitting so nothing amiss with the bike wire loom [harness]

any update ??

yes .. you could try to refit the old stuff in case a wire or sommat is toast on the wiring
