NorthWalesRider Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Hello All, I'm a long time lurker, but thought I'd ask the advice of you fine folk.I have a Yamaha MT125 which yesterday developed a fault which has been diagnosed as an issue with the instrument panel (engine turns over ok, panel lights up, but doesn't show the Speedometer, trip meter, fuel etc). The local repair shop has said that they could get a new one for £700 - which seemed a bit steep, and couldnt really find one on ebay that appealed. In my search though, I found some aftermarked dashboards that are being used(e.g. https://www.banggood.com/12V-14000RMP-Motorcycle-Digital-LCD-Speedometer-Odometer-Water-Temperature-Oil-Gauge-2-or-4-Cylinders-Waterproof-p-1547362.html?rmmds=category&cur_warehouse=CN)So, my question is this:- Does anyone use these?- Are they 'legal' (not sure about how it affects MOTs etc to use these instead of the OEM instrument panel)- Are there any in the £200-£300 that are recommended. Thanks to all for any thoughts you have - and hope you're all healthy and covid-free GPW Quote
Guest Swagman Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 As long as you have something fitted that does what the normal dash board does it will be legal. Quote
WD-40 Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 It could be water damage on the circuit board. You could take the circuit board out and check from corrosion or broken traces. Quote
Stu Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 How old is the bike? This has been pretty common and I have known them to be replaced under warranty Quote
