Ant132 Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 the engine number doesnt match the V5?(Ive checked the sticky and it doesnt say )Thanks. Quote
Ant132 Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 But they don't look at the V5 do they? Ive booked an MOT for my bike, and they said we dont do bookings, just ring before and turn up but make sure you definately bring the V5.Theres no other bike MOT for ages away where i live and seeing the bike will have no MOT when i ride it there i dont want to push my luck, Ive had an MOT for another bike at the same garage and they wanted to see the V5 then but the numbers all matched so i had nothing to worry about. Now, on my current bike ive changed the left crankcase half, which has the engine number on.. was just wondering if this is a fail? Thanks, Ant. yorbandit Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Dont see y it would be mate take it in and act dumb about the number unless they spot it and then explain what ya done and ask for advice on what ya need to do Quote
Stu Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 they dont usually check the numbers but technically the bike isnt legal so once the mot is done send the V5 off with the new numbers otherwise in a crash you could be in big trouble Quote
Guest Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 But they don't look at the V5 do they? yes they do they look at the log book Quote
Guest Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Yellow pages - look up a bike MOT centre and ask them.If you ask one some distance away no-one will know who you are and you will get the genuine info you need. Quote
queen bodecia Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Like Stu said, I think it's OK for the MOT, but technically you have to inform the DVLA of a change like that and get your V5 re-issued with the new details. Failure to do say may invalidate your insurance... Quote
Voodoo Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 But they don't look at the V5 do they? yes they do they look at the log book They've never looked at mine cause i've never taken it, just the old MOT certificate Quote
